The one thing to know first
Ceremoni never touches money. When someone contributes to a cash fund, they pay the host directly over UPI, from their own app to the host's own account. We show the host's UPI ID and a QR code; we never hold, route, or see the payment. What we store is the amount the gifter tells us they sent, so the host can keep track.
If you make a list
We store:
- Your email address (or phone number), used only to send you a one-time sign-in code. There is no password.
- What you put on the list — its name, the occasion, a date and city if you give them, the write-up, and each item's title, picture, price and shop link.
- Your UPI ID and the name on the account, if you add a cash fund. These are shown to people who open your list, because that is how they pay you.
- A shipping address, if you add one. It is shown to a gifter only after they have marked a physical item as bought, and only if you have chosen to show it.
Your list is private by link. It is never listed, searchable, or indexed by search engines, and you can add a password on top.
If you give a gift
You don't need an account. When you mark something as bought or record a contribution, we store the name you type, the message you leave, the amount, and your email or phone if you choose to give one — so the host knows who to thank. Tick “keep this anonymous” and your name is hidden from the host.
Cookies
We set two, and nothing else:
- A sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in as a host.
- A password cookie for a password-protected list, so you don't retype it on every page.
There is no analytics, no advertising pixel, and no tracking of what you look at. The one number we keep is how many times an invitation has been opened — a count the host sees, with nothing recorded about who opened it.
Shop links and affiliate links
Items on a list link out to the shop they came from — Amazon, IKEA, or a brand's own site. Some of those links are affiliate links: if you buy through one, Ceremoni may earn a small commission from the shop. As an Amazon Associate, Ceremoni earns from qualifying purchases.
It costs you nothing extra, and it never changes what is on a list — a host chooses their own items, and our curated sets are picked by hand. Once you click through, you are on the shop's site and their privacy policy applies; affiliate networks may set a cookie there to attribute the sale.
Who else handles this data
Ceremoni runs on a small number of services, each doing one job:
- Supabase stores the database and handles sign-in codes.
- Vercel serves the site.
- Google (Gmail) delivers the emails we send — sign-in codes and notifications.
We don't sell data, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything other than running your list.
Keeping and removing it
You can unpublish a list at any time from its settings, which takes it offline immediately. To delete a list for good — which removes its items, contributions, payout details and address with it — or to delete your account entirely, or to ask what we hold about you, write to ceremoni.co@gmail.com and we'll do it.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it. We won't quietly widen what we collect.
